The good news is that inkjet cartridges (OEM, remanufactured, or original brand cartridges) will last at least  two years if you store them properly. Some will last into three years.

When you purchase a new cartridges do not open the package until you are ready to use it.  The cartridges come sealed very well to help keep you cartridges fresh.  Opening them will and putting them on your self only to sit around will drastically reduce the shelf life of your ink cartridges.

Keep your cartridges store in their original packaging in a room or closest with a steady temperature.  Buying a case of cartridges online from a wholesaler supplier and then putting them in your outside shed until you need them is not a good idea.
