If you have purchased a laser printer, you already know that you are saving a lot of money. Toner cartridges are a much better deal than ink cartridges by far. Yes, a little more for the toner, but you will not have to change that cartridge for a very long time.

If you want to save even more money, you might have considered getting a toner refill kit.

Refilling your toner might be a little overwhelming at first. But do not dispare, you can do it!
The first time you attempt to refill your cartridge, wait until you will have some time and not be distracted. The ink in the refill kit has the potential to make a big mess if you have to put it down in the middle of the refill process.

Do not worry, it is not that hard, just be prepared.

Step 1 – Purchase your refill kit.
You will need to find a refill kit specific for your toner cartridge. Once you are more comfortable with you particular cartridge, you can just buy bulk toner. But a kit is nice to start with since it will have specific instructions for your cartridge.

Step 2 – Set up your area and prep the cartridge.
You will not want to do this in your living room. Go in your garage or another area inside your house where you can set up a work space. Then you can prep your cartidge by cleaning the developer roller. You simplly wipe the roller down with a clean cloth until all of the toner has been removed from it. Take your time and do not scratch the roller. Your kit will explain where to puncture a hole in the cartridge.

Step 3 – Pour the new toner in.
Take your time and carefully refill the cartridge. Once you have filled it up you will need to reseal the hole you made in step 2.

And that is it!

Generally with a refill cartridge, you can refill it two or three times. You will know if you need to purchase a new cartridge if your print quality starts to decrease. We recommend that after you refill it once, purchase a remanufactured or OEM toner to have in your closet before you reach your refill limit. This way you will not be stuck without a printer.
