Lexmark has announced it will sue 24 replacement ink cartridge makers the feel are committing patent infringement.
Legal notices have been filed with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) and the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio last Friday
Both legal notices and claims are similar against 24 companies that manufacture, import and sell replacement ink cartridges for Lexmark laser printers and Lexmark ink jet printers.
Lexmark claims that the replacement ink and toner cartridges made and sold by these companies infringes 15 patents owned by Lexmark.
In addition Lexmark is seeking monetary damages by these companies for their alleged patent infringements.
